Mary Kenney, the Associate Narrative Director of Insomniac’s “Marvel’s Wolverine,” has declared that “we must do everything we can” to advance a disorganized LGBTQ+ agenda.
In an interview with DualShockers, Mary Kenney discussed a recent GLAAD report, which lamented the lack of LGBTQ+ characters in video games. Kenney described the report as “heartbreaking.”
She further stated, “The GLAAD report tells us something critical—games are a way for LGBTQ people to socialize. But it also tells us something painful: LGBTQ gamers don’t feel that developers are considering them when designing games.”
Kenney added, “There are a lot of LGBTQ developers, and what we want is the same as what players want—to design experiences that tell players we are here, we matter, and we belong.”
To achieve this, she asserted, “We need to do everything we can, from characters to community support to mechanics, to make this happen.”
Notably, Mary Kenney attempted to defend Sweet Baby Inc.’s efforts to incorporate progressive ideologies into video games.
She wrote, “Some of you seem not to understand how game narrative consulting works, but don’t worry: I do! Yes, this is about Sweet Baby because I have worked with that team, and they are one of the best teams in the industry.”
